How to teach female reproductive system?

     I believe this is one of the hardest topics that a teacher needs to discuss in front of the class. This topic calls for  the teacher's maturity and openness to malice and hesitations of the children.

OBJECTIVES
     At any point in the discussion, the student should be able to:
1. identify the importance of the female reproductive system, and;
2. name the parts of the female reproductive system, and
3. identify the function of each part in the female reproductive system.

MATERIALS
illustrations, printed body frames

LEARNING TASK


Motivation-  Post a female body frame on the board. Similar to the one shown below.

Ask: What is in the picture?

Distribute copies of the female body frame printed on a paper. Ask the pupils to draw the parts of the female's body that are responsible for reproduction. Ask the pupils to name the parts that they have drawn.

LEARNING TASK

1. Collect the pupils' drawing.

2. Ask: What did you feel while you are doing the activity? 

3. Process the students' responses by telling that the topic should be dealt maturely and responsibly.

4. Show the a diagram or picture of a female reproductive system.

5. Ask: Were you able to draw and name the parts shown in the picture? What parts did you get correctly? What parts you missed to draw?

6. Let the students read the parts aloud several times.

7. Ask: What do you think is the role of each part?

8. Discuss the function of the reproductive parts.

9. Say: The female reproductive system has also external parts. 

10. Show the picture of the external parts of the female reproductive system.

11. Discuss to the pupils the importance of the external parts.

12. Distribute again a clean copy of the female body frame. Ask the pupils to draw again the parts of the female reproductive system.

GENERALIZATION

1. What is the function of the female reproductive system? 

2. What are the parts of the female reproductive system and their functions?

ASSIGNMENT

Research on the different ailments/ disorders/ diseases that affect the female reproductive system. Identify the causes, symptoms and possible cure.
